Pieter Bruegel the Elder, The Tower of Babel, 1565
The book
This is not a book of parenting advice. It will not get your kid off the iPad or make them suddenly love Church. It is a book about behavior: why people do what they do, how Satan runs the same play on families that he has run since the beginning, and how a family changes course. It draws on research, the scriptures, and prophetic counsel.
I build cybersecurity programs for companies for a living. Most of what I do there applies to a family, so I went back to school to study family relationships and behavior. This book is the result.

The course
Confounding Towers: Tackling Technology in the Home is a two-hour online workshop for parents. It is not a class on parental controls. Controls on their own do not work. I got around every control my high school put on my laptop so I could play games in class, and your kids are no different. The workshop teaches a way of deciding how technology is used in your home that your family will actually live by.
Online session
The course will be offered online at a future date. Leave your email and you will hear when it is scheduled.
About the author
I’m Tyler Despain. I work in cybersecurity. In 2018 I started Physher to look after the small organizations that bigger providers had dropped, and I went back to school for a degree in Family and Human Services from BYU-Idaho. I live and homestead on a small plot of land in Maine with my wife and children.

Other works
I also write fiction. The first chapter of each novel is here, and one book is here in full.
